July, 2019 Project Spotlight:

This 2nd floor master bathroom was an absolute blast to remodel for the wonderful Menning Family!

“Where do we even start?” was the first question they asked. A question that we get all the time, in fact. But one that we have an easy step-by-step system for answering. You see, at our initial meeting they told us about their goals for the project: that as a family with 3 young kids they needed convenience and safety above everything else. They needed to know how to design their bathroom to suit those needs, and where to find the right selections for their goals. We developed something called “Distributor Action Checklists” for just such a purpose.

These checklists are step-by-step, easy-to-follow instructions for each kind of major home remodeling project (kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, etc.). They tell you exactly where to go and what to look for when picking selections for your project, based on your goals.

For example, say you’re doing a bathroom. You will need to pick out many things, such as floor tile, a tub or showerpan, a vanity, a sink, and sink hardware. With over a hundred options for each, there are more than 10billion combinations to choose from, just for those 5 selections! How do you even start to pick? That’s why having very clear goals for what you want is so important in remodeling. If you know your goals for each selection, aka the job you want it to perform and what you want the aesthetics to look like, you can use our checklists to light the way. Want ceramic tile of a certain size? Go here, and ask for this person. Want a real-wood vanity, stained brown, with soft-close doors? Call this number and visit their showroom on Tuesday. This clarity and step-by-step action is what the Menning Family was looking for, and they got started immediately on finding the right selections for them.

Now while the Mennings were busy following our selection checklists, we got busy on designing them the perfect bathroom. They wanted to take out the wall separating their old powder room and bathroom to make one larger space, so there were some initial plumbing and electrical challenges to overcome. That didn’t take long to figure out however, so by the time the selections were ordered we were ready to submit the design. We even had a special vanity designed with a hole in the bottom panel for their custom laundry chute!

At that point it was time to get started, and before you knew it we were done and they were thrilled. They were both real estate professionals, so they had seen some projects go awry before in other homes. But they were determined not to let that happen to theirs. The whole project took about 3 weeks once all the materials came in, and they can’t wait to get started on their next home improvement project!
